Celebrating nearly 80 years in operation

12,000 L Let down tank with Weighing System

Onslow Engineering continues to pioneer advanced solutions tailored to the specific needs of our clients. Recent standout projects exemplify the company’s expertise and commitment to innovation. One such project involved the manufacturing of a 12,000 L Let Down Tank equipped with a weighing system and a CIP System featuring a jacketed tank with insulation -vital for our client’s complex production processes

This 12,000 L freestanding Let-Down mixer and tank is equipped with a 45 kW motor and gearbox, delivering a speed range of approximately 0-100 rpm for specialized applications. This unit operates on a variable frequency drive and features a stainless steel shaft with four SS impellers, plus an additional small impeller designed to mix 1000-1500 L of premix.

Constructed from 6 mm stainless steel, the tank includes a jacketed pot with a dual jacket arrangement for enhanced efficiency. Thermal insulation is applied to the sides and bottom of the tank. The conical bottom design ensures easy drainage, facilitated by a 4-inch outlet valve. Additional features include a standard loading chute, dust extraction attachments, various inlet connections, and CIP provisions on the lid, all tailored to meet our clients’ specific mixing needs.

Tri Shaft Vacuum Mixer

Recently we have manufactured a Hazardous Class1, Zone1 tri-shaft vacuum mixer, engineered to handle highly viscous materials up to 5 million CPS. Equipped with intrinsically safe (IS) electrical control panel, this key machine now operates seamlessly for 16 hours daily at the client’s facility.

The tri-shafted unit (Disperser, Anchor, Auger) features a bridge-piece incorporating a three-shaft mixing system, vacuum head, and base-frame with a tubular support structure to accommodate existing process vessels of approximately 1670 L or 52” I.D x 48” Tank. The bridge-piece is line-bored to house the bearing and mechanical seal assemblies for each of the disperser, anchor, and auger shafts. The upper side of the bridge-piece includes mounting structures for the drive systems of these three shafts, along with the necessary enclosures.

Additionally, the unit is equipped with a stainless steel IS panel to manage all operational controls, RPM displays, temperature gauge, and vacuum gauge, all designed to function in a Hazardous Class 1, Zone 1 area. The unit also comes with a large main panel to house the isolator, circuit breakers, and three VFDs, with a cooling fan to maintain optimal temperature. All components comply with Australian standards.

Standard Disperser

The Onslow disperser is designed to disperse pigments in liquids across various batch sizes and is also suitable for general-purpose mixing. Its robust design and versatility ensure that, no matter your dispersion application, the Onslow disperser is the machine of choice for you. The Onslow 45 kW disperser is available with either a Variable Frequency Drive or a Mechanical Variable Speed Drive, suitable for both Class 1 Zone 1 and non-hazardous environments. We can supply standard accessories such as mixing vessels, telescopic lids, split lids, loading chutes, and dust extraction systems.

The High-Speed Cavitation Disperser

is equipped with an electronic drive system, featuring various kW drive motors coupled to an AC frequency inverter or Soft Starter. The disperser shaft is driven by the motor via a vee belt. The mixer shaft is fitted with a stainless steel rotor, complete with rotor bosses and a nut. For safety reasons, the drive pulleys and belts are fully enclosed.

The mixer head assembly is supported on a central column and elevated by a self-contained, motorized hydraulic pump unit, which includes the necessary control valve. The dispersers come with approved safety attachments, such as a shaft guard, an elevation cut-out and tub clamp, all fitted with standard or Ex’D’ rated limit switches.

All motors are configured for a 415-volt, 3-phase, 50-hertz AC electricity supply to meet Australian requirements, with other specifications available for export regions. The TEFC motor and frequency inverter are suitable for non-hazardous installations, or Ex’D’ for Class 1 Zone 1 environments. The unit is finished in durable polyurethane 2-part paint, available in ‘Onslow Green’ or a color of your choice.

An electrical control box, starters, pushbuttons, wiring, installation, and commissioning are available upon request but are not included as standard items with the disperser.

Our Process

We supplied the whole 45 kW HSD with Mixing Tanks, Telescopic Lid, Loading Chute, Extraction Unit and the operator mezzanine floor as a
complete scope of supply.

After refurbishment before refurbishment

We excel in refurbishing and optimising older equipment. In a recent project, the team expertly restored two 35-year-old tri-shaft mixers with a capacity of 5,500 L each. The mixers were stripped down, sandblast cleaned and reassembled with new load cell attachments and a custom loading chute for bag handling, giving these veteran machines a new lease on life.
